A pinafore dress from Laura Ashley in beautifully soft needlecord.
It has a rounded neckline, loose-fitting empire waistline and a a full-length gathered skirt. The needlecord features a lovely pattern of stylised leaves within diamond lozenges.
Deep pockets an be found concealed in the seam on either side of the garment. There are small dark navy buttons on the shoulders and down the left side.
This vintage pinafore comes from a period that exemplified true quality and it remains in excellent condition.

Laura Ashley and her husband Bernard began selling screen printed scarfs to boutiques and department stores in London. Things really took off when the moved to Carno in Wales and explored the trend for the free flowing, romantic and historical.
